Fishing Gears: Sinker

Spread the love

If you’ve ever been interested in a fishing, then you know exactly about the main tools, such as a fishing rod or a float.

But let’s talk about something like this,  which is not known about by everyone and what you could not know before!

The main purpose of the sinker is to give the opportunity to catch fish at the most different depths, regulating the release of the fishing line with the nozzle by moving the float along it. In some cases, the sink helps further throw a hook with a nozzle.

Sinkers are usually made of lead, which has a large specific weight and is easy to handle.

The fisher should correspond to the buoyancy of the float, dipping it by two thirds. About the absolutely insufficient mass of the sink indicated by a plaza on the water float. This position of the float on the water reduces its sensitivity to bite. In addition, it is possible to assume that here it is small and the nozzle fell to the bottom. When fishing on a float bucket, the weight of the sink may be from 1 to 30 g (depending on the conditions of fishing).

Heavy sinkers  are used, if caught on a strong current and in deep places, or when fishing for cuttings.

On sale there are different  sinkers – lead shotguns with a slit for clamping the fishing line. However, having a piece of lead, it’s easy to make a sinker by yourself.

For this, it is necessary to open the lead, and then separate from this plate a small part (the required mass) and attach to the fork above the hook by 120-150 mm. Such sinkers are always useful for fishing. They are very easy to equip a fishing rod, the excess of the same lead is easily cut with a knife.

It is better to put not one large sinker, but a few small ones, since they are not so noticeable and produce less noise when falling into water. Place the sinkers on the leash with an interval of about 10-15 cm, and so that from below they were slightly smaller, and more on top. The first sink is put at a distance of 18-22 cm from the hook. This arrangement makes them less visible and provides a better cut.

For a float roller it is convenient to use a sinker  in the form of a cucumber. You can catch a fish without a sink, especially one that holds in the upper layers of water, on a float bucket.

You can replace the sink with a small blister. This, firstly, allows you to quickly determine which nozzle and at what depth is best taken by this or that fish, which is especially important for the development of an unfamiliar reservoir, and secondly, makes it possible to sharpen fish with different passion to the nozzle.

Sulkers should be unobtrusive and not scare fish. To this end, some fishermen paint them under the color of the soil. This, apparently, is unnecessary, since the sink of darkened lead is not noticeable in water and does not cause a special “suspicion” in the fish.
