About The Colonials

Based in West Acton, Massachusetts, The Colonials represent  The Colonial Figure Skating Club. During the 2008-2009 skating year, the Colonials competed in the Beginner, Juvenile, Intermediate, Junior, Collegiate and Open Adult divisions. Being one of the elite teams, the Colonials have competed nationally and internationally for over twenty years. We draw skaters from all over New England including Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New Hampshire and Maine.

Our mission is to train and develop individuals and teams that will be national and international competitors, encouraging teamwork and sportsmanship, and supporting individual skaters and teams as they seek to achieve their unique potential. We aspire to do this at every level in which we compete.

For the athletes on The Colonials Synchronized Skating Teams, success is based upon sustained hard work, dedication to achieving their full potential as a team, determination, and a healthy dose of fun.

Parents are pleased to know that The Colonials promote a value-based sports philosophy. We are a stable, volunteer-run organization that is competitively priced and fiscally responsible.

Every year, we host the Colonial Classic Synchronized Skating Competition. In 2009, we hosted the 25th competition featuring over 100 teams in 12 divisions with over 1300 skaters. Next year, we will host the Eastern Sectionals at the Tsongas Arena in Lowell, MA. This is our way of giving back to the sport that we love.

The Colonials Junior Synchronized Skating Team has competed nationally and internationally for over twenty years. As a United States Junior World Team competitor, they competed at the 2007 World Challenge Cup for Juniors in Nottingham, England, and the 2008 World Challenge Cup for Juniors in Rouen, France. The 2007 and 2008 U.S. Figure Skating Synchronized Team Skating Championships silver medalists, the Colonials represented the United States at the Prague Cup January 2009.

Which Program is Right for You?

The Colonials has a full set of programs for skaters at all ages and skill levels:

  • If you are new to skating, try our Beginner team or if you have a little experience, our new Preliminary team.
  • If you have synchronized skating experience, we have teams for skaters at every skill level and age. There’s plenty of opportunity to grow with us!
  • This year, we would like to make a special invitation to freestyle skaters to consider a team that is age and move-level appropriate. Synchronized skating provides a great opportunity to continue skating competitively while enjoying a team sport.
